6 from 6

Dinno win again.

It wasn't particularly pretty but it was a hard fought win against local rivals St Josephs Rockware of Worksop in this evenings fixture. A wet night at the iCompare Phoenix made for some potential mishaps and it was the ever dependable Josh Branch who would almost fall foul of the conditions, a back pass to  the Dinno stopper was played out and a slip gifted the ball to the Worksop man who lifted an effort thankfully over the top.

Dinno were playing some decent football throughout the opening half but were struggling to make anything happen in the last third of the pitch, they were moving the ball around well but chances were few and far between for the home side. The best chance of the half probably fell to Liam Bryan after some good play working the ball out the right hand side and a good ball in found Bryan who couldn't guide his header on target. In all fairness, nothing of note really came to pass in the opening half.

A few choice words must have been had at half time as there was much more urgency in the second half. Dinno were starting to get some joy down the sides of the Rockware back line, Jake Thompson causing problems one side and Cam Evans the other. Dinno came close to opening the scoring after a ball from the Dinno left, a cross or an effort at goal, who knows just dropped on to the Rockware bar. Dinno were looking lively and taking the game to the away side and it wasn't long before the Rockware keeper was called in to action pulling off a fine stop to deny a goal bound free kick, getting down well to the right to divert the ball wide for a corner.

It wasn't long before Dinnington made the breakthrough. A quality ball to Jordan Turner who took the ball well, shrugs off the defender, cutting inside and putting the ball in to the keepers bottom left corner despite getting a hand to the effort. Not long after Dinno found themselves two to the good, Liam Bryan running at the Rockware defence and cuts a ball back along the six yard line for the onrushing Turner but the ball was bundled over by a Rockware defender. It was almost three a minute or so after but for another decent stop from the keeper. Danny Cain was introduced to the game and with his first touch of the game fired the yellows three in front and he was again involved laying one a plate for a fourth which was ruled out for offside.

All in all a good second half showing from the yellow and blacks, fully deserving of the three goal victory in the end.

The victory makes it six from six heading in to a run of tricky fixtures in the coming weeks.

Next up the boys make the short trip to Kiveton to face Kiveton Miners Welfare on Saturday afternoon and hopefully the boys can keep the winning run going.

UP THE DINNO!
