The Big Kick Off.

With the start of the new season approaching thoughts turn to aspirations for the upcoming year. With the addition of extra clubs to the North division it will make for an interesting season for sure. Firstly we welcomed back Askern to the league who Dinnington travel to on the opening day, August 7th. 



This year will see a few additions to the league, Dearne and District FC, Glapwell FC and Sheffield FC Reserves. All in all the league will be as tough as always. After the last two seasons prematurely ending due to the global pandemic and many non league clubs folding we can only be thankful that we have the opportunity to still be able to see our teams competing once again and I'm pretty sure it'll be a welcome return for many. 

Up to now Dinnington have played 3 friendly games, losing out twice to higher division sides whilst handing out game time to a number of players and welcome returns to a number of last seasons regulars. 

In the coming weeks we'll be seeing a whole new kit released and we must take this opportunity to thank our first team sponsor Brearley & Co Accountants for their ongoing support and to all our other sponsors who's help is greatly appreciated in supporting the club. 

We look forward to welcoming all supporters, old and new and hopefully we can have a successful season.

Dinnington Town v Sutton Rovers

Tuesday 16th  November sees the visit of Sutton Rovers to the iCompare Phoenix Park for a fixture that was originally planned as an away game for the weekend just gone.  Dinno come in to this game on the back of a mixed bag of results, a couple of defeats in the last few weeks and the all important wins along the way, this is a league where anybody can beat anybody on the day. Along the way the 100% record was ended by Kiveton with a 1- 2 reversal, a game where many a missed opportunity ultimately cost Dinno the game, however a spirited performance prior to the Kiveton game saw the boys battle for a 2-1 victory against Clay Cross after going goal behind shortly after half time but a moment of brilliance from Brandon Ashmore in the dying minutes got Dinno over the line.  Good results have come also with convincing wins over Askern Miners and Staveley Reserves and a good old 1 - 0 over a dogged, young Sheffield FC Reserve sides. Despair at the death for Dinno.

A Point on the Road An afternoon where Dinno came in to the game on the back of six straight wins and one where the run came to an end, still a point earned but on the whole a difficult afternoon, one that could've been much worse but for some poor finishing and a couple of top drawer saves from Branchy.  The first half was a laboured affair, a slow start yet again and far too many loose balls were the order of  the day and it was a fairly frustrating affair with the yellows struggling to anything together. The opening quarter of an hour was very sloppy but take nothing away from the hosts, they were making it difficult for Dinno.  The first real chance of the game fell to Jordan Turner but he saw his effort saved and a follow up blocked before a weak header was gathered by the Kiveton keeper. Kiveton were stopping Dinnington playing with the yellows struggling to get down the sides and in behind and the frustration was clearly showing despite the best efforts of skipper Brad Hanso
