AFC Bentley 6 - 1 Dinnington Town

What to say?

Well...........the previous write up said it wouldn't be another 9 - 0 but by christ did Bentley have a good go at it. I, along with others expected a tighter affair. All credit to Bentley, a team in transition and a team rebuilding and looking to become a force to be reckoned with with some good acquisitions over the last few weeks.
As the previous away game at Thorne, Dinno found themselves 2 down at the break and left with a mountain to climb. It doesn't matter who you are, giving teams 2 goal starts isn't good enough, today they found themselves 2 down after 15 minutes. Trailing by 2, Dinno had the ball in the back of the net after a peach of a ball from the right from Cameron Evans and Jordan Turner met the ball with his head only to be flagged offside, in the opinion of many, he can count himself extremely unlucky. A penalty could've been awarded to Dinnington after a suspect push on the Dinno man, the referee remained unmoved.
The second half started with Brad Sedgwick introduced out on the left and it started brightly for the yellow and blacks but some sloppy defending resulting in a free kick just outside the area was put away to make it 3 to the home side and almost instantly it was 4. It was quickly becoming an afternoon to forget.
A Dinno consolation followed and another 2 for Bentley completed an emphatic victory for the hosts, crushing even. With the score at 6 - 1 Bentley carved open the back line but the finish wasn't worthy of the build up and also an effort was hit high over the bar from 3 yards out.

All in all a hugely disappointing afternoon on the travels and one the boys need to pick themselves up from.

Thank you to the ones who made the trip over.

Up the Dinno.
