Dinnington Town v Clay Cross

Dinno and Clay Cross kicked off the weekend proceedings under the lights at the iCompare in front of a crowd of over 200.

The game set off a little cagey with Clay Cross having the better of the opening exchanges. It looked a fairly even affair until Josh Branch launched a free kick forward, the ball found its way out on the right to Cam Evans who put the ball over for Jamie Hopkin to give Dinno the lead.

Even though Dinno had the lead it was still a 50/50 game with Lewis Twibell making a quality challenge after missing his first kick. Josh Branch made a quality save to his right to deny Clay Cross an equaliser and right on the stroke of half time, Cameron Evans picked the ball up again on the right hand side, beat his man and put in a plate for Max Glaves and for Dinno to double their advantage.

As expected Clay Cross would come out in the second half looking to get back in to the game but Dinno held out up until late on in the game when the referee played an advantage to Cross and the forward took advantage with a tidy finish in to the bottom right hand corner.

The Dinno faithful were becoming a little disgruntled with some strange decisions from the officials but as it was two first half goals were enough to see the boys home.

A huge 3 points.

Final score:

Dinno 2 - 1 Clay Cross.
