Cup Double Header.

Cup Double Header. Saturday sees a break from league action as Dinno take on Staveley MWFC Reserves at the iCompare followed by Ashland Rovers on Tuesday night in a replay of the tie that was decided in extra time instead of going straight to penalties. It was decided the game should be played out again.  Staveley MWFC Reserves.  First up is Staveley, we've had some interesting games against Saturdays opponents, one particular game from a couple of years ago was a 4 - 3 away win for Dinno, an absolute cracker of a game. The previous 2 meetings in the league last season were both wins for Dinno, 3 - 0 away and a 4 - 3 home win with this game not being one of the better performances. The visitors led by 1 - 2 at half time but a second half turnaround saw Dinno take a 4 - 2 lead and the game finished with a 4 - 3 victory for Dinno.  Ashland Rovers. Bit of a strange one in all fairness. Seven changes for Dinno in this one originally, a slow start and s...

Clay Cross Preview.

Football back at The iCompare. Friday night sees the return of competitive football to The iCompare with Clay Crossthe visitors who are managed by former Dinno man Ant Lynam.  The two sides didn't meet last season after Cross played a season in the Southern section of the league but have now been placed back in the Northern half again after a league reshuffle.  The last meeting was the final game of the 18/19 season where Dinno were beaten by two goals and the reverse earlier that season saw a 6 - 2 win again for our visitors. There is no doubting Friday night will be a tough test for Dinno against an experienced Clay Cross side who will be there or there abouts come the end of the season.  Both sides head in to the game after convincing results at the weekend after a 5 - 0 win for Dinno at Phoenix and a crushing 9 - 1 result for Cross away at the newly formed Renishawl eaves them unbeaten after four games picking up maximum points along the way.  Tough c...

Phoenix v Dinnington

Image
Dinnington made the short hop over to Brinsworth, Rotherham to take on Phoenix FC in the 1st round of the League Cup.  A wet afternoon ensued but no danger of the game being called off.  Dinnington got off to the perfect start after some good work down the left hand and the ball fell to the feet of Joe Byron a couple yards out who finished to give Dinno a 2nd minute lead. A ball through was left by everyone, I assume to go for a Phoenix goal kick but Sam Foulds was alert and took the loose ball, come on to his right foot and buried the ball in to bottom left corner before heading home his second of the afternoon from a corner kick.  HT: Phoenix 0 - Dinnington Town 3 The second half was pretty much the same, Dinnington looking the more threatening and an a rocket of a strike from Max Glaves made it four after crashing in off the underside of the bar. Sam Foulds found himself in the sin bin after his protests to the referee after he believed he was hauled down while through...
